Really love this sanctuary! This place is bigger than I expected. Really love the bird show, have never been so close up to one. The animals were lovely and healthy and doesn’t feel like they’re being caged up. Worth the price. There’s easy parking right at the entrance too. Kids would love it

Fantastic day out with the family. All the staff are friendly (from the cafe staff to the keepers). The keepers are so knowledgeable and obviously care deeply for their animals. We can’t wait to return.

An animal-lover's paradise, nestled amongst the beauty of the Dandenongs. Make sure you visit the animal hospital - you never know what animals will be being cared for.

Recently attended a photo workshop held at the Healesville Sanctuary. What a wonderful place to learn. The Sanctuary staff where also very helpful, which was great to see. Can easily spend the day wondering around here. Make sure you have plenty of batteries and a long lens.

I have visited Healesville Sanctuary many times but my visit in January was by far a stand out. A highlight was the Dinosaur and Megafauna experience. What an amazing display. The staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable. What a perfect day out for young dinosaur fans and budding paleontologists! I highly recommend it for young and old alike. The other highlight for me was the Creatures of the Night exhibition. The nocturnal house was so well done! I was very excited to actually see so many rare animals, including the beautiful Mountain Pygmy Possum. This exhibit is well worth a look. A great day out!

Nice place to visit. As a bonus the dinosaur experience was well received by our kids! Seeing the koalas relatively up close are in no doubt "a winner"!

What a lovely day! Highlights for me were seeing a platypus swimming around in the platypus house and experiencing the Spirits of the Sky presentation which was absolutely terrific. This is an experience that the whole family will enjoy.

This is such a great place to visit and they really go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good experience. If you can make it to one of the talks happening throughout the day, that's really interesting. You can even view some veterinary procedures in their operating theatre if there are any happening on the day you visit. So many animals to see and enjoy. This is a must see for any animal lover. We saw the dingo talk which was really interesting and the bird of prey show. If you are interested in the bird of prey show, you have to line up early as it's super popular. People were already lining up for it 30 min before the show and it fills up fast, so go early. I quite enjoyed all the enclosed bird environments as well, especially the parrots. They're so pretty! This park also has loads of picnic areas so you can bring in your own snacks and drinks if you don't want to buy them at the park. Absolutely loved this place!

It has been years since I visited Healesville Sanctuary and under very different circumstances. Upon arrival, you are greeted by staff informing you of what you need before you get to the ticket window. From there you are given a ticket. I bought a general admission ticket, using my Zoo Membership card, and there are unique options linked with animal experiences to choose from as well [not currently running- check their website before visiting]. Being environmentally friendly, you scan a QR code and their map loads on your phone. Things to know: Be aware that some enclosures are still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, such as the reptile house. The toilets scattered throughout are easy to find, and drink fountains are not in use due to the restrictions, so bring water. Staff members are moving through the park and wiping down areas to keep them COVID-safe and wear your mask. This venue displays clear signs making navigation easy. There are a few cafes to buy food from, with seating outside and along paths. Food: give the Mediterranean wrap a try. They have a dino-park for the kids, which you can't miss due to the raptor and other dino noises echoing throughout that area. The enclosures themselves are as close to their natural environment as you can get, and on hot days have water sprays blowing across each section, tubs of food and water plus ample shelter. The conservation and Aboriginal displays are impressive and informative [keep your eye out for the groovy sculptures]. A pleasant surprise was meeting many of the handlers and keepers inside some of the sections. Approachable, knowledgable and friendly - bravo - makes a visit even more fascinating after listening to them. They don't mind you wandering around with a camera taking copious amounts of photos. The carpark is free and travel time to the sanctuary from Melbourne is about 1hr15 - if using the Eastern Freeway, if not wanting tolls it's a bit longer, 1hr30. Recommendations: Wear a hat, bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a camera/smartphone, water and snacks. Though I didn't get to see all the animals today, I will return, another perk from having a Zoo Membership. Visit Healesville Sanctuary; they work hard to present a venue that is kind and homely for the animals, to inform the public about conservation and care of flora and fauna and to educate in a friendly manner.

Unfortunately there were no talks and many areas were closed off to the public. I wasn't too upset about that as my aim was to take my partner to see the birds in flight show which I knew was open at 1 and 3pm. We went for a coffee at 2:45 to take to the show but the lady said she had just cleaned the machine :/ No coffee for us. We could have gone to another cafe but didn't want to miss the show. Excitedly arrived at the flight show at 2:50 only to be turned away as they said they were at capacity. I spoke to reception about my dismay but was given 2 coffee vouchers and told there was nothing they could do. So utterly dissapointed. Felt like we deserved a refund. If you want to see a handful of kangaroos and birds, 3 koalas, a couple of tassie devils and one wombat, knock yourself out.
